Feeling down an out? Well I have the solution for just $19.95!

CONfidence

There is an industry out there that is guaranteed to make a profit.  It’s recession proof and has been successful for generations.  Although there’s a lot of competition, a seemingly endless supply of customers makes the pie large enough for everyone.  The supply of customers is endless because at one time or another, every man, woman and child suffers from the same problem.

Insecurity.

And insecurity is a cash cow.  If we are lacking confidence and aren’t feeling good about ourselves, there will always be someone willing to sell us something that will fix our problem and make our dreams come true.

[Cue 3AM infomercial voice]

Always feeling like money is tight?  Feel free to choose from the thousands of DVD’s and books that will “teach” you how to get rich quick and escape the rat race.   Not a fan of books?  You can take a seminar from one of the “gurus” and learn all of their “secrets”.  Not as smart as your friends and don’t feel like you can get that college degree?  You are in luck.   There are online schools that literally encourage you to get your degree in your pajamas (no joke).  Sick of your nose?  Get it reduced.  Breasts too small?  Go from a B to a D in no time.  You can change your hair (even by wearing someone else’s), eye color, teeth and just about anything else on your body if you feel unattractive.

The granddaddy of all insecurity however, is weight.  When people feel fat, other people get filthy rich.  Weight loss products and services are literally everywhere and people are lined around the corner to buy them.  You can take a pill that will squelch your appetite or attempt one of the dozens of diets that all claim to reduce that waistline.  Need washboard abs?  For just a few payments of $49.99 you can have one of the many exercise apparatuses that look like abstract architecture.  If you’re desperate, there’s surgery that can actually make your stomach smaller.  And the best news is, if you try a product and you can’t shed those pounds, you can hit the store and try something different.

Just remember to keep in mind that results may vary and they will vary every time you use the product.  Its that little piece of fine print that really keeps the gravy train running and truly puts the “con” in your lack of confidence.  They can say whatever they want and never have to deliver.  After trying that “miracle” product and getting frustrated, you only have to turn on your TV to see that next thing that will do the trick.  You see the “testimonial” of that one woman and you say, “if it can work for her than why not me?”  The irony is, these companies try to sell you a product to cure the very thing that keeps their business going, because if their product actually worked, they would eventually run out of customers.

But the truth is, they know their product won’t “work”…

And they know you’ll be back to buy more.
