Definitely in your Fan Club now

Champion.

I never thought that I would ever learn something from the girl from “Speed”, but that’s exactly what happened.

In 2002, Sandra Bullock was a star in every sense of the word.  Actresses and actors would kill to have her track record.  She was getting new roles, wildly popular and made more money than she can count.  And with all that success, what did she do?

She quit.

Despite all her riches and fame, Sandra was unhappy with her career.  She felt that she was typecast in roles that didn’t allow her to display her talents and get respect for being an actress.   After doing some soul searching and taking advice from loved ones, she jumped back into the mix.  Sandra decided to accept roles that challenged her and gave her a sense of pride.  This led to a role in the Oscar winning movie “Crash” (for which she took a massive pay cut) and ultimately last year’s hit, “The Blind Side”.   This decision paid off, as her brilliant work in “The Blind Side” won her “Best Actress” at this year’s Academy Awards.  Now no one can typecast her.

We can all learn from the girl from “Speed”.

How many of us work at jobs that may pay well but we hate?  Somewhere between our childhood and the last rent payment, we lost sight of our dreams and what makes us smile.  Even though she was making all of the money in the world, Sandra couldn’t look at herself in the mirror and feel good about the work that she was making.  She took a risk, made a change and is now more successful than ever before.

We only have this one shot at this thing called life and it’s not long enough to spend it doing something that you don’t love.  You may even love what you do but feel that you don’t get the credit that you deserve, either way a change is needed.  Money is great and necessary, but none of that matters if you don’t have happiness and a personal sense of pride.  So to all of you who are frustrated with your current situation, ask yourself this question…
