The Lineup: April ‘12
What I can’t live without: AMC Television. Seriously this is
getting a bit ridiculous. I try not to talk about the same things every month but every time I check
out a new AMC show, I get instantly hooked. This time it’s a show that I came in late on… The Killing. It’s a unique spin on the cop-style
crime drama (think 24 meets Law & Order). The way that they lay out the clues and the suspects, you
feel like you’re trying to solve the crime along with the detectives. It's an amazing show.
(Related: Game of Thrones)
Are you following?: North Korean missile. Yes it failed – horribly. The point is, there are countries that
want access to certain kinds of weapons and they are going to get it. We’ve tried all of the sanctions and
every threat short of war and these countries continue to make
advancements. Like I’ve been
saying on this blog and in conversation, let’s try diplomacy for a change. Not the condescending-pat-them-on-the-head
kind of diplomacy but actually developing a positive relationship so that even
if they get a bomb, they won’t want to use it.
(Related: This dude's face really bother's me. I feel bad for those people.)
And still…: UFC Light Heavyweight champion of the world,
Johnny “Bones” Jones. He’s the
best MMA fighter in the world and he’s only 24 years old. He’s like the Lebron James of MMA… only
if Lebron already had 3 championships.
The best is still yet to come and that’s a scary thing.
#Winning: Think Like a Man is #1 movie in America for two weeks
in a row. This movie isn’t a
“black” movie – it’s a “rom-com” like any thing that Kate Hudson or John
Krasinski has been in. It’s also a
well-written, well acted movie that’s worth the price of admission. Numbers don’t lie.
Lazy or Resourceful?: Having your groceries delivered to your door. Don’t knock it until you tried it. On a rainy Sunday, my fiancé did a few pointing and clicking and 10-12 bags of groceries magically appeared at our door. That “magic” did include a modest delivery fee and a guy lugging them on a hand truck, but I was still in bed when the doorbell rang so it was magic to me!
You should have Netflix’d: Emo girl and James Bond. The rest of the world probably refers
to this as The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Every new movie seems to come from a series of books nowadays and this is one of the few that didn't disappoint the nerds that always feel that the "books are better". I’m also a big fan of
movies with strong female leads and it doesn’t get stronger (or weirder) than
this. It’s a really smart movie
and the best part is there’s two built in sequels.
(Related: The Sitter - cute. that is all.)
(UNrelated: Everything Must Go - started good, got boring quickly. that is all.)
Had to make room on my iPod for: Onika. I’ve said
it before, I’ll say it again, I am extremely proud of Nicki Minaj. She has taken the music world by storm
and has been the first female artist to transcend Hip-Hop since Lauryn
Hill. When little white girls are
performing your show on Ellen, you’re doing something right. Add in a few endorsements and its clear
that she’s not slowing down anytime soon.
Although I’m not a huge fan of her “Jersey Shore” themed songs, her
latest album will no doubt go platinum again. Get ‘em girl.
(Related: Jon Connor - this boy can spit. Check out his new tape)
Can’t wait for: The NBA Playoffs. After a lockout that threatened the entire season, the
condensed 66-game schedule got underway and hit like a whirlwind. All of the drama picked up right where
last year left off. Can the Heat
win it all? Are Durant and the
Thunder ready? Does Kobe have
another one left in the tank? So
many questions are about to be answered and so many new questions will get
asked. I can’t wait.
(Related: The Avengers.)
Luv this posting (probably because there's a lot of things I can relate to. lol). Having groceries delivered is probably the best thing ever!! You already know how I feel about The Killing and Dragon Tattoo. Next you have to write about the Ice T book.
